how-to-install-frago
Powered by frago — An Agent OS that turns ad-hoc agent runs into reusable recipes. Install: uv tool install frago-cli
What this skill does
This skill lets the user's agent CLI (Claude Code, codex or opencode) install and configure frago from source on the user's machine without the user typing a single frago command. Before touching anything, the agent runs a probe script shipped with the skill (assets/setup-page.sh, or setup-page.ps1 on Windows). The script detects which agent CLI is running the skill, which agent CLIs and optional dependencies are already on the machine, and generates a local five-screen page from a template that carries no machine state of its own. The page is bilingual (English / 中文, following the browser's language) and collects every decision up front: which CLIs to hook up (the one running the skill is locked on; missing ones can be installed and hooked up too), which tools the user allows to be installed, whether to keep the resident server and create a private backup repository, and whether to configure LightAgent now or later. The choices come back as one pasted block of configuration; the API key, if given, is saved to a local file that the configuration only points to and that the agent deletes once the profile exists. The install then runs end to end without asking again.
The agent prepares git and uv, clones the repository, builds the environment with uv sync, publishes it as the system frago by running the server once — which deploys the hook binary, registers events in Claude Code's settings, and bridges opencode and codex when present — passes codex's hook-trust gate on the user's behalf, verifies only what frago cannot repair by itself, creates the LightAgent profile from that file, recommends recipes from the community repository, backs up the working directory if asked, and closes by running the fragowelcome recipe, whose page has the machine prove what changed. A documented manual path remains as a fallback for when the server will not start.
When to use
This skill should be used when a user wants to install or configure frago from source on their machine (macOS/Linux/Windows) using the agent CLI they already have — Claude Code, codex or opencode — or when an installed frago cannot delegate work or run a recipe because no credentials have been set up yet. Trigger phrases: "install frago", "安装 frago", "配置 frago", "frago 源码安装", "set up frago", "frago installation", "deploy frago hooks", "从源码安装 frago", "配置 frago 模型", "frago profile", "配方没有 api key", "frago 备份".
